Phlebotomist We are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and driven individual to join our laboratory team as a Phlebotomist. The ideal candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with both patients and coworkers, work independently, and adapt to sudden schedule changes. This position requires experience in phlebotomy, knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EHR), understanding of HIPAA regulations, and a desire to continuously learn and grow in the laboratory profession.

Qualifications :

Education :

High school diploma or equivalent. Certification in Phlebotomy from an accredited institution. Additional certifications or training in related areas. Experience with specific laboratory equipment or software.

Experience :

Minimum of 1-2 years of phlebotomy experience. Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.

Skills :

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Flexibility to adapt to sudden schedule changes and varying workloads.

Physical Requirements :

Ability to stand for extended periods. Manual dexterity to handle needles and other equipment. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Must be available to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Work Environment :

The work is performed in a clinical laboratory setting. Exposure to blood and bodily fluids, chemicals, and other laboratory hazards is expected. Personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols are required.

Key Responsibilities :

Patient Interaction :

Greet patients and verify their identities. Explain procedures to patients to alleviate their concerns and ensure cooperation. Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture to collect blood samples. Ensure the comfort and safety of patients during and after the procedure.

Sample Handling :

Label blood vials with patient information accurately. Store and transport specimens according to protocol to ensure sample integrity. Track and manage sample collection and delivery in compliance with laboratory standards.

Data Management :

Input patient and specimen data into Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems accurately. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all procedures and samples collected.

Compliance and Safety :

Adhere to all HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality. Follow all laboratory safety protocols and infection control procedures. Maintain a clean and organized workspace.

Professional Development :

Stay updated with the latest developments in phlebotomy and laboratory practices. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
