This is a leadership position for a Physical Therapist who wants more than a traditional staff PT role. The Clinic Director will play an integral role in establishing and growing the Bakersfield location while maintaining the high standards of patient care and service expected throughout our practice. The ideal candidate is a strong clinician and leader who can oversee Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, and support staff , develop a positive and accountable clinic culture, and help build a successful practice within the Bakersfield community. The Clinic Director will initially be involved in direct patient care while progressively assuming responsibility for the clinical and day-to-day operations of the location as the clinic grows. Responsibilities Lead the clinical operations and continued development of our new Bakersfield outpatient physical therapy clinic. Provide high-quality, evidence-based physical therapy evaluations, treatment, and patient education. Supervise and provide clinical leadership to Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants , ensuring appropriate delegation and compliance with applicable scope-of-practice requirements. Mentor and develop PTs and PTAs while promoting clinical excellence, accountability, teamwork, and professional growth. Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training new clinical team members as patient volume and staffing needs increase. Help establish a strong clinic culture centered around exceptional patient care, professionalism, communication, teamwork, and measurable results. Oversee patient scheduling and clinical workflow to promote efficient operations while maintaining appropriate standards of care. Monitor patient caseloads, therapist productivity, schedule utilization, cancellations, and other key clinic performance indicators. Ensure patients are progressing appropriately through their plans of care and help identify barriers that may contribute to missed visits, premature discontinuation of therapy, or poor outcomes. Review clinical documentation and promote timely, accurate, and compliant documentation by the clinical team. Help ensure evaluations, daily notes, progress reports, recertifications, and discharge documentation are completed according to payer requirements and established clinic standards. Maintain compliance with Medicare, commercial insurance, workers' compensation, and other applicable payer requirements. Conduct periodic documentation and quality-assurance reviews and provide education or corrective guidance when needed. Coordinate with front-office staff to improve communication between scheduling, insurance verification, authorization management, and the clinical team. Address patient concerns and help maintain an exceptional patient experience from initial evaluation through discharge. Conduct regular staff meetings, clinical discussions, and performance check-ins to maintain alignment and accountability. Collaborate directly with ownership on clinic performance, staffing needs, operational challenges, patient experience, and growth opportunities. Help develop relationships within the Bakersfield community, including physicians, healthcare providers, employers, gyms, coaches, and other potential referral partners. Represent the clinic professionally within the community and help establish the Bakersfield location as a trusted destination for outpatient physical therapy. Identify opportunities to improve clinic efficiency, patient outcomes, employee performance, and overall clinic growth. Take increasing ownership of the day-to-day operation of the Bakersfield location as the clinic grows. Qualifications Current California Physical Therapist license in good standing. Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or equivalent accredited Physical Therapy degree. Current CPR/BLS certification. Outpatient orthopedic physical therapy experience strongly preferred. Previous leadership, supervisory, clinical director, or management experience preferred. Experience supervising or working closely with Physical Therapist Assistants preferred. Strong understanding of clinical documentation, medical necessity, plans of care, progress reporting, and insurance requirements. Excellent clinical reasoning, communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Ability to provide constructive feedback, hold team members accountable, and address problems professionally. Strong interest in leadership, practice development, and building a successful outpatient physical therapy clinic. Comfortable balancing direct patient care with leadership and administrative responsibilities. Ability to work collaboratively with ownership while independently managing day-to-day clinical operations. What Success Looks Like The successful Clinic Director will help build a Bakersfield clinic that: Provides excellent clinical care and measurable patient outcomes. Maintains high standards for documentation and insurance compliance. Develops and retains excellent PTs, PTAs, and support staff. Provides patients with a consistently exceptional experience. Maintains an efficient and productive clinical schedule without sacrificing quality of care. Builds strong relationships within the Bakersfield healthcare and local community. Continues growing patient volume, staffing, and clinic performance. Operates with increasing independence from ownership as the location becomes established.

Compensation Base Salary:

$125,000-$135,000 annually, depending on experience and demonstrated leadership ability.

Retention Bonus:

$20,000 paid over the first two years of employment, distributed as $2,500 following each successfully completed quarter . Additional performance-based incentives may be available based on clinic growth, leadership performance, operational goals, and overall clinic success.
