What You Can Expect:

The Patient Educator assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the effectiveness of the organizations health education programs for patients and community residents.

• Teaches and provides support to patients based on the specific needs and learning ability of the patient.
• Coordinates the patient education with other disciplines as it relates to the program specialty.
• Reviews and updates patient teaching materials related to the program specialty.
• May assist patients with developing skills they need to manage their disease through behavior modification.
• Provides comprehensive education to clients who have self-selected the learning opportunity.
• Provides individualized patient teaching and support to patients based on the specific needs and learning ability of the patient.
• Assists in development, implementation, and evaluation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and standards of care.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelors in Respiratory Therapy or Associates degree in Respiratory Therapy with 2 additional years of experience

Experience:

2 year's experience.

Licenses/Certifications:

Valid license to practice respiratory therapy in state of practice AND Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certified through American Safety and Health Institute, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross. At St. Luke's, caring for people in the communities we serve is our mission
