Job Description

A rewarding contract opportunity is available for a skilled Physical Therapist ready to make a positive difference in the school environment. This short-term role spans from mid-August to early November and offers the chance to collaborate with dedicated educators in support of special education students. The primary focus will be on fostering the development of gross motor skills, especially with a higher concentration of transition-age students (ages 20-22), alongside mixed grade levels.
Key Qualifications:
Active Illinois Physical Therapy license Experience working with pediatric and school-aged populations Previous background in a school-based setting Strong communication skills to interact effectively with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams Ability to adapt intervention plans and collaborate within educational frameworks
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver educationally relevant physical therapy services to special education students Assess and address deficits in gross motor development through individualized and group interventions Maintain thorough and accurate documentation following state and district guidelines Contribute to IEP meetings, goal setting, and progress reports Collaborate with general and special education personnel to support student success and inclusion Provide recommendations for adaptive equipment and classroom modifications, as needed This is an onsite position with a consistent Monday through Friday schedule, totaling 37.5 hours per week. The role supports a diverse caseload, so flexibility and a passion for fostering independence in young adults are essential.
