Category Schools - PT Job Type Contract Step into a dynamic contract opportunity providing essential physical therapy services within a school-based environment near Hempstead, NY. As a valued physical therapist in this role, your expertise will directly support students in achieving their educational and developmental goals. You'll collaborate with educators and families to help students maximize their independence and success throughout the school day.
Desired Qualifications:
Valid Physical Therapy license in the state of New York Previous experience working with pediatric or school-aged populations preferred Strong communication skills and ability to contribute as part of a multidisciplinary team Knowledge of IEP processes and documentation requirements Commitment to evidence-based practices and continued professional development
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of students' motor skills, balance, and functional mobility Develop individualized physical therapy goals and treatment plans within the IEP framework Deliver direct therapy services both individually and in group settings Consult with teachers, support staff, and parents, providing training as needed for classroom carryover Maintain written documentation and progress reports according to school policies and regulations Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to collaborative planning for student needs Stay up to date on best practices in pediatric and school-based physical therapy This contract position offers flexibility and the chance to make a real difference in students' lives.
