Want to become more than just a PTA who follows a treatment plan? At Free Motion Physical Therapy, we believe great clinicians never stop learning. We're looking for a Physical Therapist Assistant who wants to join a collaborative team, develop strong hands-on skills, work closely with patients, and continue growing professionally. This isn't a position where you're expected to simply come in, follow basic instructions, and repeat the same routine every day. We want you to understand WHY you're doing something. We want you to develop your clinical skills. We want you to become confident working with patients as a DPT would be expected to. And as you demonstrate your abilities, we want you to grow into greater responsibility and independence within your scope of practice.
WHY FREE MOTION?
Free Motion is a privately owned, cash-based physical therapy practice in Clearwater built around hands-on physical therapy, patient education, therapeutic exercise, advanced recovery technology, and wellness. Our environment is different from a traditional PT clinic. We believe patients deserve to be treated like people—not numbers. And we believe our clinicians deserve an environment where they can actually learn and grow. Our goal isn't simply to get patients through their appointments. It's to help them understand their bodies, improve their movement and function, and achieve meaningful results.
EDUCATION IS PART OF THE JOB.
We believe education creates better results. That means educating patients. Educating coworkers. And constantly educating ourselves.
WHAT MAKES THIS POSITION DIFFERENT?
PATIENT
CONNECTION
You'll get hands-on and work directly with patients throughout their treatment. You'll help them understand their treatment programs and process. You'll learn how to communicate effectively with different types of patients and help create an environment where people feel supported and confident. You'll progress your hands on manual therapy skills! As you demonstrate your clinical abilities, your role can develop toward a more independent patient load within your scope of practice.
LEARN FIRST. GROW INTO INDEPENDENCE.
We believe independence should be earned through demonstrated ability. You'll first learn our systems, clinical approach, expectations, and treatment methods. Then you'll practice. Then you'll demonstrate competency. As you grow, you'll have opportunities to take on more responsibility and develop your own patient load. You won't be thrown into the deep end. But we also don't want you staying in the shallow end forever. We want to help you grow.
MANUAL THERAPY DEVELOPMENT
Hands-on treatment is a major part of the Free Motion approach. If you already have strong manual therapy skills, that's great. If you're a newer PTA who wants to become much better with your hands, we can help develop those skills. You'll have opportunities to practice and develop hands-on techniques and learn how to integrate them with movement, therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education, and the overall patient program. We want you to SEE the change. And learn how to CREATE the change.
WITH YOUR OWN HANDS. WEEKLY HANDS-ON TRAINING
One of the things that makes Free Motion different is that clinical education isn't something we only talk about. Our clinical team participates in hands-on collaborative training
TWO TIMES PER WEEK
for approximately one hour each session. PTs and PTAs participate together. These sessions give you opportunities to: Practice hands-on techniques Improve your clinical skills Learn from other clinicians Discuss patient cases Ask questions Receive feedback Practice new approaches Continue developing your confidence You're surrounded by people who are also trying to become better clinicians. That's intentional.
MENTORSHIP & TEAMWORK
You won't be expected to know everything. And you won't be expected to figure everything out by yourself. We want you to ask questions. We want you to seek feedback. We want you to learn from the PTs and other clinicians around you. If you're someone who says: "Show me how." "Why are we doing this?" "Can I practice that?" "How could I do this better?" —you'll probably fit in well here.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will: Provide patient care under the direction and supervision of a Physical Therapist Assist with implementation of individualized treatment programs Assist with mobility, strengthening, flexibility, and neuromuscular activities Develop your hands-on/manual therapy skills. Educate patients regarding their exercises and treatment Progress appropriate aspects of treatment within your scope and established plan of care Help patients understand WHY they are doing what they're doing Participate in collaborative clinical training Communicate with PTs and other team members Help maintain a positive, professional patient experience Continue developing your clinical knowledge and skills Use appropriate treatment and recovery technologies as trained and directed
OUR APPROACH TO GROWTH
Learn. Practice. Demonstrate. Understand. Apply. Improve. As you grow, your responsibility grows with you.
