Position Summary:
An adjunct faculty member at St. Petersburg College has the primary function of instruction, coaching/mentoring, and student development. Secondary functions include assisting the College in maintaining a quality program of instruction and continuing professional development.
Academic Requirements and Qualifications:
Graduate of a CAPTE accredited physical therapy program (physical therapist or physical therapist assistant program). Doctorate or Master¿s degree in Physical Therapy or Master¿s with 18 graduate credit hours in Physical Therapy or Master's with Associate's Degree in PTA or Bachelor's with Associate's Degree in Physical Therapist Assistant plus 5 years in field (Bachelor's requires demonstrated leadership and teaching experience in clinic). Contemporary expertise in assigned teaching areas and demonstrated effectiveness in teaching and student evaluation in a postsecondary education institution. Must hold an active and unrestricted Florida license as a Physical Therapist (PT) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA). Excellent written/oral communication and human relation skills. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and counseling skills. Exceptional critical thinking, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills. Must be a self-starter and have the ability to begin and finish a task with minimal supervision. Ability to manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines. Ability to adapt to unexpected changes. Detail-orientation and ability to produce high-quality work with minimal supervision. Ability to establish a positive working relationship with colleagues. Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving student experiences. Strong familiarity with computer-based tools and technology (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and experience with online learning management systems. Completion of the online learning management training and annual online training refreshers in a timely manner. •An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential job duties may be acceptable in lieu of some requirements listed above.
Preferred Qualifications:

Department/Program Responsibilities:
Adhere to College and department/program rules, policies and procedures. Assist in resolving student issues. Assist the Dean and Program Director in administering the attendance management system, which includes analysis of the PeopleSoft attendance reports for compliance with the College attendance and withdrawal policy for students. Demonstrate a professional, cooperative and considerate attitude toward students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders. Evaluate students¿ performance, in cooperation with other faculty, to determine the students¿ ability to integrate didactic and clinical learning experiences and to progress within the curriculum. Track student progress and classroom attendance, and conduct outreach to students as needed, to foster student success. Encourage completion of the Student Survey of Instruction (SSI) during each term and review the SSI feedback to help improve best practices in online teaching. Become familiar with student support services such as Learning Support Commons (New Initiative Program), Connections Program, and accessibility services. Keep abreast of the advances and innovations in higher education pedagogy, and maintain competence in area(s) of responsibility through professional development and scholarly activities. Participate in faculty meetings and trainings as able. Encourage a collegial and positive department/program environment that promotes excellence in teaching, learning, research, and service. Perform related duties as required.
Student Responsibilities:
Foster academic excellence in teaching and learning. Instruct students in accordance with College and department/program policies, procedures, and approved curricula. Maintain an open and responsive communication policy with students. Ensure student safety while in the clinical laboratory.
College-Related Duties/Responsibilities:
Support SPC¿s mission, vision, and values through commitment to success of students with diverse goals, backgrounds, and learning styles. Communicate needed issues and initiatives from the College to the department/program. Participate in activities relative to promoting community-campus partnerships for health, service-learning, and career development. Maintain currency in teaching field(s) through professional development and scholarly activities. Demonstrate a professional, cooperative and considerate attitude toward students, colleagues and staff. Complete other College-related duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment and clinical laboratory. Routine computer usage is a significant part of the incumbent¿s daily work activities. Some travel may be required to clinical facilities.
