Working under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, the PTA provides skilled physical therapy treatments that help patients improve mobility, strength, balance, coordination, and overall functional independence. As part of our multidisciplinary rehabilitation team, you will work closely with Physical Therapists, physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional, patient-centered care to patients of all ages in inpatient, outpatient, and long-term care settings. Essential Responsibilities Provide skilled physical therapy treatments under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist. Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, gait training, balance activities, transfers, and functional mobility training. Monitor patient progress and communicate changes to the supervising Physical Therapist. Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, mobility techniques, and the safe use of assistive devices. Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation. Maintain treatment areas and therapy equipment in a clean, safe, and organized manner. Collaborate with the rehabilitation team to ensure continuity of patient care. Participate in department meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education. Maintain compliance with HIPAA, accreditation standards, infection prevention practices, and HMC policies. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program. Current Illinois Physical Therapist Assistant license or eligibility for licensure. Current CPR/BLS certification or ability to obtain upon hire. Previous clinical experience preferred; new graduates are encouraged to apply. Knowledge of rehabilitation techniques, therapeutic exercise, and patient mobility. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
