Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our healthcare team in a full-time capacity. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in physiotherapy practices, with a focus on delivering high-quality patient care in our skilled nursing facility. This role offers an opportunity to collaborate closely with licensed physical therapists and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement effective treatment plans that promote patient recovery and well-being. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, a thorough understanding of medical terminology, and proficiency in operating physical therapy equipment, including manual therapy tools and trigger point therapy devices. Duties Assist licensed physical therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans tailored to patient needs, including manual therapy techniques such as trigger point therapy. Conduct clinical assessments and document patient progress accurately in accordance with clinical documentation standards and medical documentation protocols. Utilize appropriate medical equipment safely and effectively during therapy sessions, ensuring adherence to safety guidelines. Maintain comprehensive electronic health records (EHR) management to ensure seamless communication among healthcare team members. Support patient care activities in our skilled nursing facility for geriatrics patients Participate in discharge planning by providing detailed reports on patient progress and recommending ongoing care strategies. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and modify care plans based on patient response and evolving needs. Apply physiotherapy techniques such as manual therapy, orthopedics-focused interventions, and physiologic assessments to optimize treatment outcomes. Communicate effectively with clients and caregivers to explain treatment procedures, address concerns, and promote active participation in recovery processes. Stay current with clinical assessment documentation standards and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations related to physical therapy practices. Qualifications Valid licensure or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) from an accredited program. Demonstrated experience working in inpatient settings, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics, or home health environments. Proficiency in medical terminology, physiology knowledge, anatomy expertise, and orthopedic principles relevant to physical therapy. Skilled in the operation of medical equipment used for manual therapy, trigger point therapy, and other physiotherapy interventions. Strong understanding of clinical assessment documentation standards and medical documentation procedures. Experience with electronic health records (EHR) management systems is preferred. Knowledge of care plans development for diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatrics. Excellent caregiver communication skills along with the ability to engage effectively with clients of all ages across various care settings. Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams while maintaining high standards of patient confidentiality and safety.
