Job Description

Job Summary The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides physical therapy services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT). The PTA implements individualized treatment plans designed to improve patients' mobility, strength, balance, functional independence, and overall quality of life. This position primarily serves pediatric patients , helping infants, children, and adolescents achieve developmental milestones, improve functional mobility, and maximize independence. The PTA works collaboratively with families, caregivers, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and organizational regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Implement physical therapy treatment plans developed by the supervising Physical Therapist. Provide skilled physical therapy interventions to pediatric patients with developmental delays, neurological disorders, orthopedic conditions, genetic disorders, and other diagnoses affecting mobility and function. Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, balance training, coordination activities, strengthening exercises, and therapeutic play appropriate for the child's age and developmental level. Monitor and document patient progress, response to treatment, and changes in functional status. Educate parents, caregivers, and family members on home exercise programs, positioning, mobility strategies, and developmental activities to reinforce therapy goals. Collaborate with physicians, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, teachers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care. Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory, payer, and organizational requirements. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, infection control standards, patient safety protocols, and company policies. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and continuing education opportunities. Work Environment Provide therapy services in pediatric inpatient clinic. Work closely with children and their families in a supportive, engaging, and family-centered environment. License/Certification Requirements Current Virginia Physical Therapist Assistant License (required). Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program. Current CPR certification.
