A Physician Assistant provides medical care to patients, under the supervision of a physician or surgeon. Works in all areas and specialties of medicine, and is licensed to practice medicine but has less formal certification than a physician. Performs duties delegated by a physician such as recording patient medical histories, ordering diagnostic tests, or giving immunizations. May serve as the primary healthcare provider, in consultation with a part-time physician, in communities with limited health care resources.

40 hours per weekPrimary Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and diagnose patients by obtaining medical histories, performing physical examinations, and assessing symptoms.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on each patient's condition, medical history, and current needs.
- Prescribe medications and treatments within the Physician Assistant's scope of practice and state regulations.
- Manage and treat chronic conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, asthma, high cholesterol, and thyroid disorders.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests, X-rays, imaging, and other diagnostic studies.
- Perform appropriate in-office procedures, including wound care, suturing, injections, ear irrigation, and other procedures within scope of practice.
- Provide preventive care, including physical examinations, wellness visits, screenings, immunizations, and health-risk assessments.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment options, lifestyle modifications, and preventive health measures.
- Coordinate patient care by referring patients to specialists when needed and collaborating with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, and other healthcare professionals.
- Accurately document patient encounters, diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, test results, and follow-up care in the electronic health record.
- Use NextGen electronic health record software to maintain accurate and timely patient documentation.
Required Qualifications:
- Active Physician Assistant license required.
- Ability to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients within scope of practice.
- Experience managing acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Strong clinical assessment and patient education skills.
- Experience using NextGen or similar electronic health record systems preferred.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
