Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate, clinically strong Physician Assistant (PA) to join our patient-centered outpatient oncology practice. The PA will work collaboratively with the supervising oncologist and multidisciplinary care team to provide high-quality care to patients across the cancer continuum, including diagnosis, active treatment, survivorship, and supportive care. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive and focused patient evaluations, including new-patient and follow-up visits, under the supervision and collaboration of the oncologist. Assess treatment response, disease-related symptoms, treatment toxicities, and functional status. Develop and implement care plans in collaboration with the supervising physician and oncology team. Review laboratory results, imaging, pathology, and other diagnostic studies; communicate findings and next steps as appropriate. Provide patient and family education regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, expected adverse effects, symptom management, and supportive-care resources. Manage common oncology-related symptoms and treatment toxicities within scope of practice and established protocols. Participate in treatment planning, chemotherapy/immunotherapy education, treatment clearance, and ongoing monitoring. Coordinate care with infusion nurses, pharmacists, primary care clinicians, surgeons, radiation oncologists, hospital teams, and other specialists. Document encounters accurately and promptly in the electronic health record. Assist with prior authorizations, peer-to-peer reviews, referrals, and other care-coordination needs. Participate in quality-improvement initiatives, team meetings, and practice education activities. Maintain current knowledge of oncology standards, therapies, and supportive-care practices. Required Qualifications Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program. Current NCCPA certification. Active or eligible Florida Physician Assistant license. DEA registration. Strong clinical assessment, patient counseling, documentation, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced outpatient oncology setting. Commitment to compassionate, respectful, patient-centered cancer care. Preferred Qualifications Prior hematology/oncology, internal medicine, infusion center, hospitalist, or other relevant clinical experience. Experience managing treatment-related symptoms, reviewing laboratory and imaging results, and coordinating complex care. Familiarity with electronic health record systems and oncology documentation workflows. Oncology-specific continuing education or certification is preferred but not required.
