Overview:
Emergency Department The Children's Mercy Division of Emergency Medicine provides the highest level care to sick and injured children and adolescents in the Kansas City region. We have two emergency departments where patients receive skilled care from highly trained and passionate health care professionals. The ED APRN will staff day shifts and evening shifts, with sporadic overnight coverage within one of the two emergency departments. All shifts will be 10 hours- two weekend shifts and one shift during the week.
Responsibilities:
Clinical Practice:
competently provides comprehensive, evidence-based advanced practice nursing care to address the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients and families within the framework of the collaborative practice agreement.
Professional Practice:
actively participates in beginning leadership, evidenced-based practice/research, and organizational development activities with the support and direction of an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse mentor.Qualifications:
Master's Degree and 1-2 years experience 1-2 years pediatric APRN experience with Masters. Exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis within preferred specialty. or Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP)- preferred and 1-2 years experience 1 year pediatric APRN experience.
One of the following:
Licensed RN- Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire One of the following: Licensed RN
- MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO APRN board certification congruent with population and practice setting (see policy statement: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Roles and Practice Setting) Required Upon Hire Acute Care PNP will be required Will have two years to be enrolled in a program and five years to complete the program OR Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) in MO & KS Required Upon Hire Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire Specialty Certification relevant to unit's patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director)
