Cardiothoracic Surgery Location:
Asheville, North Carolina Overview Asheville Heart, a physician-owned and nationally recognized cardiovascular practice, is seeking an experienced Surgical Physician Assistant to join our high-performing team in Asheville, NC. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a collaborative and innovative environment within a Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) 3-Star Cardiothoracic Surgical Program. Key Responsibilities As an integral member of the surgical team, your duties will include: First-assisting in cardiac and thoracic surgeries Endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) and radial artery harvesting Daily rounding and new patient consultations Post-operative care in the CVICU Preparing discharge summaries and coordinating transitional care About Our Practice Asheville Heart operates within a 815-bed regional hospital that includes a dedicated heart hospital and cardiovascular operating rooms. Our team comprises four board-certified cardiothoracic surgeons and 12 advanced practice providers. We perform over 1,000 cardiac and 300 thoracic procedures annually, including: Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) Valve replacements/repairs, including TAVR Multi-valve and complex cardiac surgeries Ventricular assist device (VAD) implantation and ECMO Atrial fibrillation surgical interventions Thoracic aortic endografting Qualifications Minimum 1 year of experience in a cardiothoracic surgery program Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) BLS and ACLS certification required North Carolina PA license (or ability to obtain one at least 8 weeks before start date) DEA registration (or ability to obtain at least 8 weeks before start date) Compensation & Benefits We offer a competitive and comprehensive package, including: Competitive salary with opportunity for growth Generous vacation and sick time Medical and dental insurance Continuing Medical Education (CME) allowance Pension plan Disability coverage Malpractice insuranceJob Type:
