A Physician Assistant provides medical care to patients, under the supervision of a physician or surgeon. Works in all areas and specialties of medicine, and is licensed to practice medicine but has less formal certification than a physician. Performs duties delegated by a physician such as recording patient medical histories, ordering diagnostic tests, or giving immunizations. May serve as the primary healthcare provider, in consultation with a part-time physician, in communities with limited health care resources.

Team members affiliated with Joint Ventures Job Relationships Responsible to: Medical Director Assignments received from: Medical Director Positions supervised: None Job Summary Urgent care Advanced Practitioners (Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner) provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections. Functioning in lieu of or alongside of a physician, it is essential for an urgent care Advanced Practitioner to have excellent assessment skills in order to recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary. Job Requirements Education- Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants
- Master's Degree required for Nurse Practitioners Work Experience
- 2-5 years of post-residency clinical experience required
- Minimum 18 months experience in applicable practice setting required
- Adult and pediatric practice experience strongly preferred Required Licenses/Certifications
- National Certification
- Active state medical licensure Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting
- Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, etc. Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred
- Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records
- Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills Essential Functions Essential functions are those tasks, duties and responsibilities that comprise the means of accomplishing the job's purpose and objectives.
- Examining and treating patients
- Taking patients' medical histories
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X-rays
- Making diagnoses and prescribing medications
- Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting
- Recording progress notes for follow-up patients
- Educating and counseling patients
- Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients
- Giving vaccinations, and referring patients to additional care
- Each provider will work an anticipated four (4), eight (8) or twelve (12) hours per shift which will be assigned by an authorized representative of GoHealth Urgent Care
