- The Orthopaedic Surgery-Upper Extremity service is seeking a physician assistant/nurse practitioner to provide and advance the care of our patients through dedicated, professional service as an integral member of a comprehensive team.
Job Responsibilities include:
Assisting surgeons in the diagnosis and treatment of Orthopaedic Upper extremity patients in the outpatient setting, possible inpatient or OR setting Providing service continuity in the outpatient clinical setting (including preoperative and postoperative care, as well as management of non-operative patient conditions Performing detailed medical history; performing physical examination and presenting pertinent data to the medical staff Collecting and assisting in the interpretation of reports from diagnostic imaging studies and laboratory tests Evaluation and treatment of patients autonomously with faculty support as needed. Performing various minor office-based procedures, including application of braces, splints, casts, and injection/aspirations Assisting surgeons in the operating room as needed Assisting surgeons in rounding as needed Serving as a resource to administrative (administrative assistants and call center) and medical (nursing and medical assistants) staff daily and in instances of faculty absences Coordination of care plans as needed, collaborate with other health care providers/clinicians to coordinate clinical care. Providing follow up to patients and assistance in the referral to various internal and external facilities. Participation in quality improvement activities Provide routine Orthopaedic services effectively and efficiently Possiblility for coverage of Ortho Acute Injury patients Required QualificationsRequired Qualifications NP:
Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner specialty certification in the State of Michigan. Current speciality certification to practice as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care, Family Nurse Practitioner, or Adult Primary Care NP will be considered. Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN). Current DEA required AHA Approved BLS Two or more years of APP experience Three years of Orthopaedic Surgery experience as a PA/NP, preferred experience in Orthopaedic Upper Extremity and Hand conditionsRequired Qualifications PA:
Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan. Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Satisfactory completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or one of its predecessor agencies, CAHEA or CAAHEP. State of Michigan Controlled Substance License Required Current DEA Required. AHA Approved BLS Two or more years of APP experience Three years of Orthopaedic Surgery experience as a PA/NP, preferred experience in Orthopaedic Upper Extremity and Hand conditions Employment is contingent upon successful completion of the credentialing and privileging process. Desired Qualifications- Experience as a PA/NP in the orthopaedic outpatient setting, with procedural care, fracture care, and perioperative surgical patient management Experience as a PA/NP in evaluation and management of hand,wrist,elbow, and upper extremity conditions preferred Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and patient service skills.
Full Time Salary range:
