The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive patient care across various medical settings, including hospital, emergency, urgent care, and outpatient clinics. This role involves collaborating with healthcare professionals to deliver quality medical services, perform physical examinations, diagnose conditions, and manage treatment plans. Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, and eClinicalWorks is essential. The Physician Assistant will also be involved in clinical research, patient education, and specialized procedures such as suturing, botulinum toxin treatments, and ventilator management. Candidates with critical care experience, hospital medicine background, or trauma center exposure are highly preferred. Duties Conduct thorough patient assessments including intake, vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation. Perform diagnostic evaluations utilizing EMR/EHR systems and interpret diagnostic tests such as radiology reports and laboratory results. Prescribe medications in accordance with collaborative practice agreements and DEA regulations; administer injections and perform procedures like suturing. Manage acute pain, airway management, ventilator support, and critical care interventions in emergency or ICU settings. Participate in clinical research studies and data collection efforts to advance medical knowledge. Provide patient education on health management, medication use, and preventive care. Assist with discharge planning, follow-up care coordination, and post-acute care services. Collaborate closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop treatment plans for diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, neonatal care, hospice & palliative medicine. Maintain accurate medical records adhering to HIPAA standards and ensure compliance with documentation requirements such as CPT coding and ICD coding. Engage in telehealth consultations when appropriate and support infection control protocols. Skills Proficiency with EMR/EHR platforms such as Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology. Experience in diverse clinical settings including hospital medicine, emergency medicine, urgent care, NICU/PICU care, outpatient clinics. Skilled in performing physical exams, diagnostic test interpretation (radiology & labs), and procedural skills like suturing and injection administration. Familiarity with critical care procedures including ventilator management and airway techniques. Ability to work effectively within collaborative practice agreements while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Excellent client communication skills with a compassionate approach to patient care. Capable of managing complex cases involving acute pain management or infectious disease care. Knowledge of CPT coding for billing purposes; experience with
ICD-9/ICD-10
coding is advantageous. Adept at data management for clinical research or quality improvement projects. Ability to work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team in fast-paced environments such as trauma centers or teaching hospitals. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
