Position purpose The Pathology Supervisor is responsible for assisting in all phases of specimen handling and slide preparation of pathology specimens, including quality control and assurance Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Assist in daily laboratory operations Assist with scheduling, recruitment, and payroll Assist in staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction and conflict management Support departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of Pathology Laboratory Provide technical expertise and back up for all duties performed in the pathology laboratory Assist in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and standards Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring laboratory safety, quality assessment, and improvement programs Maintain good relationships with physicians, colleagues, and vendors to ensure customer satisfaction and resolve operational issues Other duties as assigned

Qualifications Qualifications Qualifications Education:

AA in Science or equivalent OR HT or HTL (ASCP) OR Education and training are sufficient to support CLIA 88 requirements for the position held. This is to be reflective of the scope of practice in regular scheduled responsibilities and pay grade meeting all

"testing personnel" criteria.

Experience:

Five (5) year experience in laboratory setting.

Strong sense of ethics. Equipment Operated This role routinely involves standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Also, laboratory equipment is used daily. Work Environment This job operates in professional laboratory environments. Frequent exposure to toxic/caustic chemicals, moving/mechanical parts, sharp objects, blood or body fluids, communicable diseases, LED computer monitors, repetitive motions. Local travel in the region may be required to another location as needed. Physical Requirements Occasionally required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time. Use of hands to finger, handle, feel objects, tools or controls. Reach with hands and arms Occasionally climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Constantly talk, hear and smell. Occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
