Medical Doctor - Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Clinic Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Doctor (MD/DO) to join our Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) healthcare team. The physician will provide comprehensive medical evaluation and treatment to patients who have sustained injuries as a result of motor vehicle accidents. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical assessment skills and experience evaluating and managing neck, back, shoulder, knee, extremity, and other musculoskeletal injuries , as well as headaches, dizziness, pain, and other conditions commonly associated with motor vehicle accidents. The physician will be responsible for performing thorough examinations, establishing appropriate diagnoses, developing individualized treatment plans, ordering and reviewing diagnostic studies, performing medically appropriate procedures, and coordinating referrals to specialists and ancillary providers. The physician must maintain accurate and timely medical documentation and provide patient-centered care while complying with applicable federal and state laws, HIPAA requirements, clinical standards, and insurance/billing requirements. Duties and Responsibilities Perform comprehensive initial and follow-up medical evaluations for patients injured in motor vehicle accidents. Obtain and document detailed histories, including the mechanism of injury, date of loss, symptoms, prior treatment, and progression of complaints. Perform thorough physical examinations and assess the patient's musculoskeletal, neurological, and functional status. Diagnose and manage conditions commonly associated with MVA injuries, including: Cervical and lumbar strains/sprains Cervical and lumbar pain Radiculopathy Muscle spasms Shoulder, knee, wrist, hand, hip, and extremity injuries Headaches and post-traumatic symptoms Dizziness and related complaints Other soft-tissue and orthopedic injuries Develop individualized treatment plans based on the patient's clinical presentation and medical needs. Order, review, and interpret appropriate diagnostic testing, including X-rays, MRI, CT scans, laboratory testing, and other diagnostic studies when medically appropriate. Refer patients to appropriate specialists, including orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, neurologists, pain management specialists, and other healthcare professionals when indicated. Review outside medical records, imaging reports, specialist recommendations, and other relevant documentation. Monitor patient progress throughout the course of treatment and modify treatment plans when medically necessary. Prescribe and manage medications in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and clinical standards. Perform medically appropriate office-based procedures within the physician's scope of practice, training, and licensure. Provide appropriate pain-management treatment and other therapies based on the patient's clinical condition. Evaluate the need for continued physical therapy, chiropractic care, massage therapy, therapeutic modalities, DME, and other supportive treatments when medically appropriate. Educate patients regarding their diagnosis, treatment plan, medications, activity restrictions, home care, and expected recovery. Recognize conditions requiring urgent or emergency evaluation and appropriately direct patients to emergency or higher-level care when necessary. Communicate and collaborate with physical therapists, chiropractors, specialists, imaging facilities, and other healthcare professionals involved in the patient's care. Maintain accurate, complete, timely, and legally compliant medical records for every patient encounter. Document medical necessity for examinations, diagnostic studies, treatment, medications, referrals, procedures, and other services provided. Ensure documentation accurately reflects services personally performed and clinical decisions made by the physician. Properly utilize the electronic medical record (EMR) system for clinical documentation, orders, prescriptions, and patient records. Utilize appropriate ICD-10 and CPT coding consistent with the services provided and applicable billing requirements. Maintain compliance with HIPAA, applicable Michigan healthcare regulations, professional standards, and clinic policies. Participate in quality assurance and clinical documentation review as requested. Maintain professional communication with patients, staff, attorneys, insurance representatives, and other parties involved in the patient's care, while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and professional boundaries. Provide appropriate medical oversight and clinical guidance to members of the healthcare team within the physician's scope of responsibility. Qualifications Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution. Current and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Michigan. Current DEA registration, if required for prescribing controlled substances. Malpractice insurance or eligibility for coverage as required by the practice. Experience evaluating and treating patients with motor vehicle accident, orthopedic, musculoskeletal, or personal-injury-related conditions preferred. Strong knowledge of musculoskeletal and neurological examinations. Experience with acute and chronic pain evaluation and management. Ability to evaluate injury-related complaints and determine appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans. Familiarity with X-ray, MRI, CT, and other diagnostic imaging commonly used in evaluating MVA-related injuries. Ability to recognize signs and symptoms requiring specialist referral or emergency evaluation. Knowledge of ICD-10 diagnosis coding and CPT procedure coding. Experience with EMR systems and electronic clinical documentation. Strong understanding of medical necessity and appropriate documentation standards. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with clinical and administrative staff. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Commitment to ethical, professional, and patient-centered medical care. Preferred Experience Preference may be given to physicians with experience in: Motor vehicle accident injury clinics Orthopedics Physical medicine and rehabilitation Pain management Urgent care Emergency medicine Family medicine Occupational medicine Personal injury/MVA patient care Musculoskeletal medicine Outpatient procedures Position Expectations The physician is expected to provide high-quality, evidence-based medical care while maintaining accurate documentation and appropriate continuity of care. The physician must practice within the scope of their education, training, licensure, and applicable laws and regulations. All diagnoses, treatment decisions, prescriptions, orders, procedures, and medical documentation must be based on the physician's independent clinical judgment. This position is primarily focused on outpatient evaluation and treatment of patients with injuries related to motor vehicle accidents and does not require hospital ICU, PICU, neonatal, or Level I/II trauma-center responsibilities unless specifically agreed upon by the physician and the practice.
Pay:
$400.00 - $600.00 per hour Expected hours: 10.0 - 20.0 per week
