Job Summary The Physician Extender (Athletic Trainer) provides care to patients exclusively within the medical practice setting. He/she cares for a variety of patients, incl. professional athletes, and their musculoskeletal injuries, supporting the supervising physician in clinic as part of the initial patient assessment, follow-up visits and post-operative care. Responsibilities Will be able to demonstrate an ability to perform the following functions regarding athletic injuries: prevention, assessment, treatment, (including first aide) and reconditioning as set forth by the NATA Board of certification. Will demonstrate proper taping, strapping, bracing, and fitting of athletic equipment. Will develop and carry out all prescribed treatments and recommendations by the team/program/and physician supervisor. Will maintain NATA and CPR certification in accordance with those respective institutions. Perform administrative tasks such as keeping records and writing reports on injuries and treatment programs. Plan and implement comprehensive programs to prevent injury and illness among athletes and patients Will work exclusively in the clinic setting as designated by physician supervisor and practice leadership

Qualifications Education:

Bachelor's degree in health-related field

Experience:

Required:

Minimum of 1 year working in a training capacity in a competitive athletic setting.

Preferred:

1 year experience in orthopedic setting.

Certified by the Board of Certification of the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification.
