Respond with Compassionate Action The Samaritan's Purse / World Medical Mission Post-Residency Program is designed to be a bridge for Christian Physicians, Dentists, Pharmacists, and CRNAs completing residency. This two-year+ program is designed for Christian Medical Professionals who feel called to a career in international medical missions and would serve in a mission hospital in a foreign country. With support from Samaritan's Purse, Christian Medical Professionals will be introduced to the blessings and opportunities of a career in medical missions while gaining valuable medical experience and sharing the love and compassion of Christ with a hurting world. In the role of Post Resident Physician , you will have the opportunity to: Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ Provide initial and ongoing assessment of patients that reflects knowledge of disease processes, including evaluation of the cognitive status of the patients and determining their physical, psychosocial, emotional, spiritual, educational, and safety needs. Demonstrate sound clinical judgment, provide appropriate therapeutic interventions, evaluate the effectiveness of those interventions, and revise the plan of care based on expected outcomes. Attend and participate in administrative meetings involving medical staff. Collaborate with other health team members and foster unity among the medical and missionary community. Provide teaching and training to national and international staff. Write monthly prayer and update letters for financial and prayer supporters, and complete quarterly surveys for the Post-Residency Program Manager. 100% of the time in contact with Samaritan's Purse beneficiaries (children, young adults, adults at risk), promoting and safeguarding their welfare within the context of Samaritan's Purse operations, upon deployment. Other duties as assigned. What are the qualifications? Serve with Excellence As a qualified candidate, you will have the following skills and experience:
Education:
Doctoral degree from a medical, dental, or osteopathic college or university in Medicine, Dentistry, Osteopathic Medicine, or a related field, with three or more years of residency required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid medical license in good standing is required. Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats, accurately document patient records, and observe patients to gather relevant information regarding their medical condition. Ability to assess patients, identify the nature of illness or other medical problems through examination of symptoms, and provide appropriate stabilization during emergency situations. Ability to consult and collaborate effectively with physicians and other medical professionals, contributing sound clinical judgment and compassionate, Christ-centered care in a team environment. Ability to train and mentor medical students and residents, clearly communicating medical knowledge and clinical practices while supporting excellence in patient care and the ministry mission of Samaritan's Purse.
