Job Description

Psychiatrist - Corrections We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Psychiatrist to join a multidisciplinary behavioral health team in a correctional facility located around the Mercer County area. This full-time role offers the opportunity to deliver meaningful psychiatric care to an underserved population in a structured and collaborative setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans for incarcerated individuals. Deliver a full range of psychiatric services including medication management, crisis intervention, and psychotherapeutic care. Collaborate with psychologists, nurses, social workers, and correctional staff as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team. Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with facility and professional standards. Participate in treatment planning and quality improvement initiatives. Conduct forensic evaluations and support legal documentation when needed. Supervise and collaborate with Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs). Participate in on-call coverage as assigned.
Schedule:
Full-time, Monday - Friday, 40 hrs/wk Facility operates 24/7; may require occasional evening, weekend, or holiday coverage
Compensation :
$300,000 - $315,000/yr
Requirements:
MD or DO from an accredited medical school. Completion of a U.S.-based residency program in psychiatry. Active, unrestricted license to practice psychiatry in New Jersey. DEA and CDS certification required. Minimum of 1-2 years' experience in psychiatric care; correctional or forensic experience preferred. Proficient with electronic medical records and basic computer use. CPR certification required.
