We are seeking a highly qualified, Board Certified/Board Eligible Pediatric Surgeon to provide per diem (locum tenens) clinical coverage. The physician will provide comprehensive pediatric surgical services, including emergency call coverage, inpatient consultations, operative care, and postoperative management of neonatal, infant, pediatric, and adolescent patients. The Per Diem Pediatric Surgeon will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered surgical care while maintaining compliance with departmental, hospital, and regulatory standards. Essential Responsibilities Clinical Care Evaluate, diagnose, and manage pediatric surgical conditions in neonates, infants, children, and adolescents. Perform elective, urgent, and emergent pediatric surgical procedures within the scope of hospital privileges. Provide inpatient consultations and postoperative management. Respond to emergency department and inpatient surgical consults. Participate in trauma and emergency surgical coverage, as applicable. Round on hospitalized surgical patients and coordinate discharge planning. Call Coverage Provide 24-hour or assigned call coverage, including weekends and holidays, as scheduled. Respond to emergency consultations within established hospital response times. Collaborate with emergency medicine, neonatology, pediatric intensive care, anesthesia, and other specialty services. Ensure continuity of care through appropriate handoff communication. Operative Responsibilities Perform procedures within granted privileges, which may include: Neonatal surgery General pediatric surgery Minimally invasive (laparoscopic/thoracoscopic) procedures Soft tissue procedures Gastrointestinal surgery Trauma surgery Vascular access procedures Other procedures consistent with credentialing and hospital privileges Documentation Complete timely and accurate documentation within the electronic medical record. Dictate operative reports, consultation notes, discharge summaries, and procedure documentation in accordance with hospital policies. Quality & Safety Adhere to evidence-based clinical guidelines and hospital quality standards. Participate in patient safety initiatives. Maintain compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, and institutional policies. Report quality or safety concerns appropriately.

Minimum Qualifications MD or DO from an accredited medical school. Completion of an accredited General Surgery Residency. Completion of an accredited Pediatric Surgery Fellowship. Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Surgery. Unrestricted New York State medical license (or eligible). DEA registration. Current BLS, PALS, and ATLS certifications (or as required by the institution). Eligible for medical staff appointment and clinical privileges. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in an academic medical center. Experience supervising residents and advanced practice providers. Proficiency with Epic or comparable electronic medical record systems. Experience managing neonatal and complex pediatric surgical patients. Experience providing trauma and emergency call coverage. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Excellent clinical judgment. Strong operative and technical surgical skills. Ability to work independently during call coverage. Effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare teams. Commitment to compassionate, family-centered care. Ability to function effectively in high-acuity clinical environments. Pay:

$375.00 - $525.00 per hour
