Job Description

1099 Independent Contractor | $300/hour | One 8-Hour Day Per Week Columbia Pain & Spine Institute is an established interventional pain management practice serving the Portland metropolitan area. Our team provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of acute and chronic pain, with a strong focus on interventional care and coordinated specialty services. We are seeking an experienced PM&R Physician (Physiatrist) or Neurologist to join our practice one day per week to perform EMG/NCS studies exclusively. This is a highly focused position for a physician who enjoys electrodiagnostic medicine and is looking for a consistent, well-compensated one-day-per-week opportunity without the responsibilities of managing a general patient panel. Schedule & Compensation $300 per hour 1099 independent contractor One full 8-hour day per week $2,400 per full day Approximately $124,800 annually if working 52 weeks 45-minute appointment blocks Consistent weekly schedule One regularly scheduled day per week Scope of Practice Your clinical responsibility will be EMG/NCS only. There is no general pain management clinic, medication management, prescribing, ongoing patient management, hospital rounding, or call responsibility associated with this position.
The physician will:
Perform EMG and nerve conduction studies Interpret electrodiagnostic findings Complete corresponding EMG/NCS reports and documentation Communicate clinically significant findings when appropriate Patients are scheduled in 45-minute appointments, allowing adequate time for examination, testing, interpretation, and documentation. Qualifications MD or DO Board-certified or board-eligible in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) or Neurology Active or eligible for an Oregon medical license Demonstrated training and competency in EMG/NCS Comfortable independently performing and interpreting electrodiagnostic studies ABEM certification or additional electrodiagnostic training is welcomed but not required Ideal Candidate This opportunity may be particularly attractive to a physician who already has an established practice, hospital position, academic appointment, or part-time schedule and would like to dedicate one consistent day each week exclusively to electrodiagnostic medicine.
The role is intentionally straightforward:
come in for one day, perform EMG/NCS studies, complete the associated reports, and have no responsibility for the patient's broader pain-management care.
Compensation:
$300/hour | $2,400 per 8-hour day | 1099
