Job Description

Medical Internship (Gap Year) — Fab Eye Care (Phoenixville & Malvern, PA) Fab Eye Care is a family-owned, multi-location optometry practice dedicated to providing high-quality patient care in a friendly, professional environment. We are offering a paid, one-year internship designed for pre-medical and pre-health students taking a gap year before medical, PA, or other health professions school. You'll train and work alongside our doctors as part of the clinical team — earning real, hands-on patient-care experience, not just shadowing hours. What You'll Do Work up patients: case history, medical/ocular history, medications, and chief complaint Train on and perform diagnostic testing (OCT, visual fields, retinal imaging, autorefraction, lensometry, tonometry) Assist doctors during exams and record findings — hands-on scribe experience See medical eye care up close, including how systemic conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and autoimmune disease present in the eye Help patients with contact lens insertion, removal, and care Rotate through the front desk — scheduling, check-in/check-out, and insurance — to learn how a medical practice runs Who Should Apply Recent graduate (or graduating senior) on a pre-med or pre-health track planning to apply to medical, PA, or other health professions school Able to commit to approximately one year (your gap year) Ability to travel between our Phoenixville and Malvern offices as needed Must have reliable transportation Excellent verbal and written communication skills Dependable, eager to learn, and works well as part of a team No prior clinical experience required — we'll train you Why You'll Love Interning With Us Paid hourly position — earn while you strengthen your application Substantial direct patient-contact and clinical hours for AMCAS, AACOMAS, or CASPA Direct mentorship from our doctors, including application and interview guidance Strong letter of recommendation potential Consistent weekday schedule — no weekends required Employee eyewear and contact lens discounts A supportive team invested in your future in medicine If you're serious about a career in medicine and want a gap year filled with real clinical experience, we'd love to hear from you!
