Job Responsibilities Clinical & Operational Supervision:
Provide daily supervision of invasive cardiovascular procedures, ensuring adherence to clinical standards, evidence‑based practices, and patient safety protocols. Coordinate staffing assignments, patient flow, room utilization, and case scheduling to support efficient operations. Serve as a clinical resource during complex or high‑acuity procedures, including emergency and after‑hours cases. Monitor supply utilization, equipment readiness, and room turnover to support timely procedures.
Staff Leadership & Development:
Provide direct supervision, coaching, and mentoring to cardiovascular invasive team members (e.g., RNs, CVTs, RCIS, technologists). Support onboarding, competency validation, cross‑training, and ongoing staff development. Assist with performance feedback, corrective action, and recognition in collaboration with management. Foster a collaborative, professional, and patient‑centered team culture.
Quality, Safety & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS), infection prevention requirements, and radiation safety practices. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer review, and performance monitoring related to patient outcomes, throughput, and safety metrics. Support data collection and reporting for quality, utilization, and operational metrics.
Physician & Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
Collaborate closely with cardiologists, electrophysiologists, anesthesiology, nursing leadership, and ancillary departments to support high‑quality care delivery. Serve as a liaison between invasive cardiovascular staff and leadership to communicate operational needs, issues, and improvement opportunities.
Administrative Support:
Assist with schedule management, timekeeping review, and staffing adjustments. Support inventory management, vendor coordination, and equipment troubleshooting. Participate in department meetings, education initiatives, and special projects as assigned. May perform other duties as assigned. Additional Requirements Certification
  • Basic Life Support Upon Start; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Upon Start; Must possess one: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES), Radiologic Technologist
  • Cardiac-Interventional Radiography (RTCIR), Radiologic Technologist
  • Cardiovascular Radiography (RTCR), Radiologic Technologist
  • Vascular-Interventional Radiography (RTVIR) unless graduate of an accredited school of nursing Licensure
  • Must possess one of the above registries OR must be licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse Experience
  • 3 years of experience in a Cath or EP Lab, 3 years of interventional radiology experience, or equivalent years of experience as a nurse working in a critical care hospital unit and interventional experience. Education
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, or a graduate of an accredited School of Cardiovascular Technology or Radiology Technology or equivalent education and experience.
