Job Description

Board-certified or board-eligible Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant needed for locum assignment in Portsmouth, VA. Primarily inpatient adult cardiothoracic surgery coverage with daytime clinical duties plus night and weekend call. Rotation & Schedule Minimum commitment: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off Regular hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:00 PM Night call: 3:00 PM-7:00 AM Weekend call: 24-hour shifts (7:00 AM-7:00 AM) Weekend rounding required

Inpatient:
75%;
Outpatient:
25% Typical patients on rounds: 5-10 Core Responsibilities Provide inpatient and outpatient cardiothoracic surgery care for adult patients Perform daily rounds and evaluate postoperative patients Assist with patient management, treatment planning, and care coordination Respond to clinical needs and consults during assigned night and weekend call Collaborate with surgeons, physicians, nursing, and ancillary staff Complete timely, accurate documentation in Epic Participate in weekend rounds to ensure continuity of care
Qualifications PA:
Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Active Virginia medical license Active DEA registration Prior cardiothoracic surgery experience required Availability for 2-week on / 2-week off rotation
