About Us:

Busy, well-established podiatry practice seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our team. We provide high-quality foot and ankle care with a strong focus on patient experience, efficiency, and teamwork. This is a fast-paced environment ideal for someone who is organized, proactive, and enjoys working directly with patients.

Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

Room patients, obtain and document vital signs and medical history Assist physician during exams and in-office procedures (nail care, wart treatment, injections, wound care, etc.) Prepare and sterilize instruments; maintain OSHA and infection control standards Perform basic wound care and apply dressings/bandages Assist with suture removal, splinting, and post-op care instructions Take and document clinical photos when needed Set up and break down procedure rooms Maintain inventory of medical supplies and restock rooms daily Clean and sterilize instruments (autoclave use required)

Administrative Duties:

Answer phones, schedule appointments, and manage patient flow Verify insurance and obtain prior authorizations when needed Assist with patient check-in and check-out Document accurately in EMR (experience with Athenahealth is a plus) Handle patient questions and provide clear instructions Process referrals, prescriptions, and follow-ups Maintain HIPAA compliance at all times

Patient Care & Communication:

Provide excellent customer service and ensure patient comfort Educate patients on post-procedure care, orthotics, and treatment plans Maintain a professional and compassionate demeanor Assist with patient follow-up calls and portal messages

Qualifications:

Medical Assistant experience preferred (podiatry or surgical office a plus) Knowledge of basic medical terminology Strong organizational and multitasking skills Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Experience with EMR systems (Athenahealth preferred but not required) Familiarity with sterile technique and infection control Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented Preferred (but not required): Experience assisting with injections or minor surgical procedures Knowledge of foot and ankle conditions Experience with insurance verification and authorizations

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to assist patients and move equipment as needed
