Job Description

School Psychologist Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled School Psychologist to join our educational team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive psychological services to students, support their social-emotional development, and collaborate with educators, families, and other professionals to foster a positive learning environment. Your expertise will be instrumental in conducting assessments, developing intervention strategies, and ensuring that students with diverse needs receive appropriate support. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to promoting mental health and educational success for all students. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive student assessments including psychological testing, behavioral evaluations, social-emotional assessments, and diagnostic evaluations to identify individual needs. Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with educators, families, and other specialists. Provide individual and group counseling sessions focused on social-emotional development, behavioral management, and mental health support. Engage in crisis intervention to address urgent student needs effectively and safely. Collaborate with teachers, parents, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other professionals to coordinate support strategies and interventions. Assist in the development of safety plans and behavior management programs tailored for students with disabilities or behavioral challenges. Support early intervention initiatives by conducting intake assessments and providing targeted services. Maintain accurate medical records, documentation of psychological testing results, progress notes, and compliance with special education law. Participate in staff meetings, professional development activities, and case management conferences to ensure comprehensive student support. Stay informed about current best practices in school psychology, special education law, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and mental health interventions. Skills Extensive experience working with children with developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorder. Proficiency in child & family counseling, crisis management, and behavioral health interventions. Strong knowledge of special education assessments, social-emotional student assessments, and behavioral psychological assessments. Ability to perform patient assessment techniques relevant to school psychology including psychological testing and diagnostic evaluation. Familiarity with IEP development processes, special education law, and case management procedures. Excellent collaboration skills for working effectively with multidisciplinary teams and families. Competence in conflict management, behavior management for students with special needs, and social work principles. Experience implementing applied behavior analysis (ABA) strategies when appropriate. Knowledge of medical terminology related to mental health diagnoses and medical documentation standards. Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in medical records.
