Psychological Associate - Therapy & Psychological Assessment Cogniscribe Psychology is seeking a motivated California Registered Psychological Associate to join our growing private practice. This is a hybrid W-2 position designed for a postdoctoral clinician interested in developing advanced skills in both psychotherapy and comprehensive psychological assessment, while gaining the experience necessary to transition toward independent practice as a licensed psychologist. The position will begin with a developing caseload, with the goal of growing into a full-time role. We are particularly interested in finding a psychologist who would like to grow with the practice and potentially remain with Cogniscribe after licensure. The Position The Psychological Associate will maintain a mixed caseload consisting of psychotherapy and psychological assessment. Psychotherapy clients may include children, adolescents, adults, couples, or families depending on the associate's interests, training, and competencies. Associates will have flexibility to develop areas of specialization while maintaining a sufficiently broad scope of practice. Our approach to psychotherapy is integrative, with particular emphasis on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), humanistic psychotherapy, and existential approaches. Applicants with additional training or interests in CBT, family therapy, couples therapy, child and adolescent treatment, or other evidence-based approaches are encouraged to apply. Psychological assessment will involve clients ranging approximately from age 7 through older adulthood and may include: ADHD evaluations Autism spectrum disorder evaluations Intellectual disability and cognitive assessment Learning and neurodevelopmental concerns Pre-surgical psychological evaluations Personality and emotional functioning Complex diagnostic and differential-diagnostic evaluations Other psychological and cognitive assessment based on referral needs Prior psychological assessment experience is strongly preferred. Additional training, consultation, and supervision will be provided to expand the associate's assessment competencies. Assessment Responsibilities Depending on experience and training, responsibilities will include: Conducting diagnostic and clinical interviews Administering psychological and neuropsychological measures Scoring and interpreting assessment instruments Integrating test data, clinical history, behavioral observations, and collateral information Developing diagnostic formulations and differential diagnoses Writing comprehensive psychological assessment reports Conducting patient feedback sessions Communicating findings and recommendations to referral sources when appropriate Associates will progressively assume greater responsibility for evaluations as competency develops, ultimately managing evaluations with substantial independence while remaining under supervision. Supervision & Professional Development 10% of working hours will be dedicated to supervision in accordance with applicable California requirements. This position is intended to provide more than basic accumulation of supervised professional experience. Associates will receive individualized supervision and mentorship focused on: Advanced psychological assessment Diagnostic formulation and differential diagnosis Psychotherapy case conceptualization Ethical and professional decision-making Report writing and clinical communication Development of an independent professional identity Understanding the clinical and operational aspects of private practice Associates will also gain exposure to the business and administrative aspects of private practice, including scheduling, documentation, billing and insurance processes, referral relationships, practice operations, and other aspects of running a professional psychology practice. Administrative support will be provided, while associates will also have opportunities to learn how these systems function. Schedule & Work Environment This is a hybrid position involving both in-person and remote work. Associates will have substantial autonomy in establishing their schedules, subject to client needs, office availability, supervision requirements, and the operational needs of the practice. Cogniscribe is a small and growing practice. The position offers significant professional autonomy while maintaining close, one-on-one access to supervision and consultation. Our goal is to help associates develop the clinical judgment, assessment skills, and professional independence necessary to function successfully in private practice.

Qualifications Required:

Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.

D.) in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or a closely related field Active California registration as a Psychological Associate Eligibility to accrue supervised professional experience toward California psychologist licensure Training and experience in psychotherapy Strong clinical writing and interpersonal skills Ability to work with a reasonably broad clinical population Interest in both psychotherapy and psychological assessment Strong professional judgment, reliability, and ability to work with increasing independence

Previous psychological assessment experience Experience administering, scoring, and interpreting standardized psychological instruments Experience with ADHD, ASD, cognitive, personality, neurodevelopmental, or differential-diagnostic evaluations Experience writing integrated psychological assessment reports Interest in developing advanced assessment competency Compensation This is a W-2 employee position with competitive compensation based on clinical work performed. Specific compensation structure and expectations will be discussed individually with qualified applicants. The position is expected to begin with a developing caseload and progress toward full-time clinical work as the associate's caseload grows.
