GLC Government Services is seeking a qualified and dependable Radiology Technician to support our government contract at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Herlong in Herlong, California . Full-Time Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Excludes federal holidays Education, Experience & Special Qualifications The ideal candidate must meet the following requirements: Be fully licensed to perform radiological procedures by a State Radiologic Technology Board . Possess current ARRT certification . Have a minimum of one (1) year of related work experience as a Radiologic Technologist. Maintain current CPR certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Possess strong organizational, communication, and patient-care skills. Be able to work effectively in a correctional healthcare environment and follow all applicable safety, security, and medical protocols. Position Overview The Radiology Technician will provide routine and specialized radiologic services ordered by medical staff for the inmate population at FCI Herlong. The successful candidate should be comfortable working independently and capable of performing a broad range of radiologic procedures. The facility currently utilizes digital radiologic equipment , and familiarity with digital systems is preferred. Primary Responsibilities Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Perform routine radiologic procedures ordered by medical staff. Independently perform radiographic examinations, including chest, bone, skull, spine, and portable X-rays . Independently assess and select appropriate technical exposure factors and patient positioning to obtain high-quality diagnostic images. Receive patients, explain procedures, and help alleviate anxiety or concerns. Recognize and understand various pathological abnormalities as demonstrated through radiographic imaging. Notify the Radiologist or referring Physician of preliminary abnormalities observed during an examination so that additional views or studies may be obtained when necessary. Schedule radiologic examinations and maintain accurate patient and examination records. Coordinate the transfer of radiologic records to promote continuity of care. Evaluate radiologic equipment for proper calibration and identify equipment requiring maintenance or repair. Conduct quality assurance testing and daily maintenance of X-ray equipment as needed. Possess knowledge of basic emergency situations that may arise during radiologic procedures and respond appropriately. Work closely with the Clinical Director to ensure required monitoring and evaluation activities are completed. Serve as a liaison between the Radiologist and medical staff. Receive required training and orientation and comply with correctional procedures and protocols related to medical services. Develop and maintain a working knowledge of FCI Herlong medical protocols. Follow CDC universal precautions and wear appropriate protective clothing and equipment at all times. Perform other duties consistent with the role of a Radiologic Technologist. Additional Responsibilities The Radiology Technician may also be responsible for: Computerizing and printing daily radiology logs. Computerizing and printing examination requisitions. Printing patient folder and examination labels. Completing all X-ray studies ordered by medical staff. Preparing X-ray studies for shipment to the Radiologist for interpretation. Transporting radiologic studies to the Radiologist for interpretation, as required. Assisting staff with the maintenance of radiologic equipment and supplies. Monitoring inventory and notifying appropriate staff when supplies are needed. Conducting quality assurance testing and routine maintenance of X-ray equipment. Assisting with FDA inspections and preparation for Joint Commission reviews, program reviews, and other inspections as needed. Ensuring all X-ray requests and requisitions are completed accurately and appropriately. Maintaining computerized patient logs and repeat-analysis records.
