Job Description

Registered CT Tech-Weekend Shift Delta, CO OPEN Job Description Job Description:
Position Summary:
Must do X-rays & Fluoro, which includes going to the ORUnder the direction of the Radiologist, performs all required radiographic procedures. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required. Operates computed tomography (CT) scanner to produce cross-sectional radiographs of patients body for diagnostic purposes. Positions and immobilizes patient on examining table, using supportive devices to obtain precise patient position and following protocols specified by Radiologist. Administers contrast media orally and/ or IV contrast as ordered by referring physician or Radiologist. Enters data such as type of scan requested, slice thickness, scan time, and other technical data into scanner computer. Starts CT scanner to scan designated anatomical area of patient. Talks to patient over intercom system and observes patient through window of control room to monitor patient safety and comfort. Views images of organs or tissue on video display screen to ensure quality of pictures. Evaluates exam for technical quality. Responsible for all aspects of Quality Control for the CT area as required.
Position Responsibilities:
Transports patients according to their physical abilities relative to the exams requested. Uses positioning aides as needed to produce a quality patient exam. Operates all CT associated equipment. Protects patient according to X-Ray Department policies and procedures. Assists/administers contrast media as ordered by Radiologist. Assists in performing special procedures. Practices sterile technique and Universal Precaution. Maintains all records according to X-ray Department policies and procedures. Cleans rooms following each examination. Restocks linen and supplies as needed.
Required Education & Experience:
Two years previous experience preferred. Satisfactory completion of formal radiology technology training in an AMA approved school and is registered by the ARRT. Registered/certified CT Technologist required. BLS Certification Required.
Physical Demands:
Considerable walking, standing, bending and squatting are required. The job includes the necessity of reaching forward and overhead. Some sitting and climbing are required. Moving and lifting of patients and equipment (40 lbs. to 80 lbs. unassisted and 80 lbs. to 250 lbs. with assistance) is required. The manual dexterity to start an IV is required. Needs to be able to hear, identify and respond to equipment prompters and alarms. The ability to verbally communicate with patients is necessary.
