Responsibilities Prepare interventional radiology procedure rooms, equipment, and supplies according to case requirements and infection control standards Verify patient identity, history, labs, and consent; explain procedures and address patient questions to reduce anxiety Position patients and operate fluoroscopic and digital imaging equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic and procedural images Assist interventional radiologists during minimally invasive vascular and non-vascular procedures, maintaining strict sterile technique Administer and manage contrast media and procedure-related supplies in accordance with policy and safety guidelines Monitor patient condition, comfort, and safety during procedures and communicate changes promptly to the care team Apply radiation safety principles (ALARA) for patients, staff, and self; utilize shielding and dose-reduction techniques Document procedures, supplies, radiation dose, and patient information accurately in the electronic medical record and imaging systems Perform routine equipment checks, basic troubleshooting, and coordinate service when needed to minimize downtime Participate in on-call, evening, weekend, and holiday coverage for urgent and emergent interventional cases Support quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and departmental performance initiatives Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other team members to promote a culture of compassion, safety, and excellence Required Skills Operation of fluoroscopic and digital angiography equipment Interventional radiology procedural techniques (angiography, angioplasty, stent placement, embolization, line and port placement) Patient positioning and immobilization for interventional procedures Radiation safety and dose optimization (ALARA) Sterile technique and infection prevention in procedural environments Contrast media handling and injection safety Hemodynamic and patient monitoring during procedures Electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS documentation Knowledge of vascular anatomy and interventional devices Basic life support and emergency response within a procedural suite Equipment quality control and troubleshooting Communication with patients and multidisciplinary clinical teams
