Job Description:
Performs high-quality CT and MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols to ensure diagnostic image quality and patient safety. Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications (e.g., implanted devices, metal, claustrophobia, contrast allergies). Screens all patients, staff, and equipment for MRI safety compliance per facility policy and current safety standards, including completion of required screening documentation. Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams. Positions patients accurately and comfortably using appropriate immobilization and coil placement techniques to ensure high-quality imaging.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Patient care and communication skills to deal with patients from infant, childhood, adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups. Must be able to use computer systems for data entry and retrieval. Basic clerical skills, record keeping, documentation, transfer of images to disk or film, and excellent customer service skills. Must be able to make independent judgments as needed to adequately coordinate workflow and staffing.
