The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of mammography procedures, radiation safety protocols, and patient care, ensuring accurate imaging and a positive patient experience. The Mammography Technician will play a vital role in delivering precise imaging services while adhering to strict safety standards and clinical guidelines. Responsibilities Perform high-quality mammography procedures, including digital mammograms, ensuring clear images for accurate diagnosis. Operate and maintain radiologic imaging equipment with precision, including DEXA scans and other diagnostic tools. Implement radiation safety procedures consistently to protect patients, staff, and oneself from unnecessary exposure. Provide compassionate patient care by explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and ensuring comfort throughout the imaging process. Collaborate with radiologists and healthcare providers to facilitate diagnostic evaluation and follow-up care. Maintain detailed records of imaging procedures, patient information, and equipment maintenance activities. Ensure compliance with all health regulations, aseptic techniques, and safety protocols in accordance with hospital policies and industry standards. Stay current with advancements in medical imaging technology and radiology practices through ongoing education. Requirements Certification as a Mammography Technician or Radiologic Technologist with specialized training in mammography. Proven experience performing mammography procedures in a clinical setting; experience in urgent care or emergency room environments is advantageous. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic radiology principles. Proficiency in operating radiologic imaging equipment such as X-ray machines, fluoroscopy units, PET scans, CT scanners, nuclear medicine devices, and interventional radiology tools. Familiarity with radiation safety procedures and implementing radiation safety protocols effectively. Experience working within Level I or Level II trauma centers or emergency medicine settings is preferred. Strong understanding of medical imaging techniques including sonography, DEXA scans, fluoroscopy, nuclear medicine, and interventional radiography. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with diverse patient populations. Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail in fast-paced environments.
