Registered Radiologic Technologist Radiography, Computed Tomography (CT), with min 1-year Magnetic Resonance (MR) Experience (PRN)

IMAGING POSITION SUMMARY
Hybrid Position:

This position is designed to support the transition of a qualified CT Technologist into a Magnetic Resonance (MRI) Technologist role. The technologist will initially work in CT while completing the required education, clinical experience, and credentialing requirements for ARRT Magnetic Resonance (MR) certification. Upon successful completion of the required requirements and attainment of ARRT MR certification, the technologist will transition into the MRI Technologist role. At that time, a new job description reflecting the MRI Technologist position, responsibilities, and qualifications will be provided. The Registered Technologist, is a professional who works under the supervision of the Imaging Department Medical Director to provide quality care that is focused on the comfort and wellbeing of the patient and family. This position requires a customer service-oriented individual with strong interpersonal skills for the purpose of delivering care and services to patients from diverse ethnic and social groups. Independent decision-making is expected in the execution of all duties. May be assigned to be in charge of a modality and able to delegate patient care assignments and duties based on the ability of co-workers. Must strive to maintain the professional standards of Radiologic Technology which include utilizing clinical skills and critical thinking to assess, plan, provide, delegate, supervise, manage and evaluate patient care.

This position reports to:

Imaging Services Director This position is hourly (non-exempt).

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and skills: Knowledge of medical procedures and terminology

Interpersonal/human relations skills

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Ability to maintain records and files

Understanding of MRI safety and MRI physics with completion of required 16 hours of MR directed education approved by ARRT. Follows the principals set forth by

A.L.A.R.A.

Education and experience: High school diploma or equivalent, with additional training or educations

Graduation from an approved School of Radiologic Technology or equivalent

Registered by ARRT in Radiologic Technology

Registered by ARRT in Computed Tomography

Registered by ARRT within 4 months of employment allowing for a 1-time extension of 2 months if applicable. Licensure, registration or certification: Current A.R.R.T. Registered, Radiography and Magnetic Resonance

Current Radiologic Technologist licensure by the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts

. Certification in CPR/Basic Life Support.

Registered by ARRT for Magnetic Resonance (MR) within 4 months of employment allowing for a 1-time extension of 2 months if applicable for general orientation. Not to exceed 6 months unless approved by Imaging Director and Human Resource.

DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

•) 2. Follows hospital-wide and departmental policies, including but not limited to general procedures, assigned duties, confidentiality, and observing the Patient's Bill of Rights. (E) 3. Assess conditions/needs of patients utilizing appropriate techniques & tools, taking into consideration the age, mental status, cultural & physical condition of the patient. 4. Evaluates patient outcomes/responses to plan of care and updates as appropriate. 5. Administers contrast materials as necessary as it relates to the exam. 6. Maintains an accurate & thorough medical record for all assigned patients. 7. Demonstrates a willingness to work additional shifts or float to other modalities as needed in an effort to maintain safe levels of staffing for all patients in the medical center Utilizes standard precautions appropriately

Maintains full responsibility and provides care for patients as assigned.

Follows the principals set forth by

A.L.A.R.A.

Under general supervision, performs radiology examinations; ensures quality assurance including record keeping, safety and patient satisfaction.

Understands all aspects of Magnet Safety and follows strict guidelines set forth to ensure both the safety of patients and staff at all times.

May include any and/or all of the following:

Operates radiologic equipment to produce radiographs of the body for diagnostic purposes; adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified body area.

Process patient images for Radiologist to interpret.

Maintains imaging records according to procedures

Assures patient safety and satisfaction; positions patient on examining table; explains procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Completion of all required competencies within the set orientation period set by the Director.

Performs all training MRI exams under the supervision of an

MRI ARRT
