- Interpreting the orders provided by the physician or other prescribing medical professional
- Explaining what will happen during the CT scan to patients
- Positioning patients properly to take the necessary images
- Administering IVs that contain contrast dyes to enhance imaging
- Examining images to ensure they're usable
- Updating patient medical information
- Cleaning and maintaining CT scan equipment
- Keeping inventory of CT scan supplies and making orders for supply restocks as required
- Will also help with X-rays as needed
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITES
- Deep familiarity with CT scan equipment
- Basic knowledge of anatomy, biology and how to administer IVs
- Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues with CT scan equipment performance
- Observational skills to notice any problems with images
- Strong oral communications skills to field patients' questions and collaborate with other members of the care team
- Organizational skills to maintain an orderly supply area
- Mathematics skills to assist with contrast administration and maintain inventory
- Computer skills to operate CT scan equipment, use e-mail and update medical records using health information systems software
