PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs CT studies requiring judgment in setting technical factors and choosing proper scanning protocols to produce high quality scans and images for interpretation by Radiologists. Initiates start up and shut down functions of CT equipment and associated computers. Make necessary adjustments in the CT images to enhance and demonstrate anatomy and pathology in accordance with standards set by Radiologists. Performs calibration functions of CT equipment. Performs archival storage. Schedules according to policy. Communicates to attending radiologists when patient presents with contra-indications for CT procedure and /or IV contrast injections including those who are at high risk for a reaction Assists with preparation of IV enhancement agent and administration when Nurse is unavailable Able to interview patients and prepare patients for CT procedures when RN is not available. Review all CT schedules 24-48 hours prior for information that may make a patient ineligible for a CT procedure; communicate information to Radiologist, Nurse and/or Referring Physician Reviews patient history with radiologist in order to obtain CT protocol that will optimize patient's exam and diagnosis. Confirm patient appointments 1-2 days ahead of time. Keeps current on new trends and procedures in CT imaging. Prioritize patient care and scanning in order to maintain proper workflow. Consults directly with Dr.'s offices regarding verification of orders, patient preparation, updated blood work, and scheduling. Attends to direct radiation safety needs of patients and personnel in assigned work areas. Registers and completes CT exams in the computer system. Maintains ethical and professional relationships with patients and their families, as well as with co-workers, supervisors and medical staff members. Plans, implements and evaluates individualized patient care based on patient's assessment which reflects the age of patients care for and for the specific needs of the patient. Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work area. Proficient in IV access for administration of IV contrast, as needed. Evaluates problems with all equipment and contact service as necessary. Maintain patient confidentiality. Maintains QA records mandated by NYS Orders medical supplies for CT area

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Completion of a 2-year school in Radiologic Technology. Current NYS registration and/or ARRT certified. CT certified or eligible. 1 year experience preferred. Proficient knowledge of cross-section anatomy.

WORK LOCATION AND SCHEDULE

Full Time working at both 295 Essjay Road in Williamsville and 3900 North Buffalo Street in Orchard Park as needed. Schedule can be either working (4) 10-hour shifts 8am-6pm or (5) 8-hour shifts 10am-6pm.

Pay:

$28.73 - $44.89 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
