A CT Technician or Technologist performs CT (computerized tomography) scans to diagnose medical conditions. Operates equipment used in scans and assists with analyzing the results. Works in healthcare facilities or diagnostic laboratories in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare specialists.
Weekend rotation General Summary Performs routine and specialized CT radiologic procedures at an advanced skills level. Performs procedures to produce computerized tomographic scanner radiographs of designated anatomical areas according to established practices and procedures.
Essential Functions:
Performs CT Scan studies; obtains patient history, explains routine procedures and addresses patient concerns. Prepares and maintains written documentation as required by the profession and the department. EHR proficiency Under the direct supervision of the physician, administers intravenous contrast media. Recognizes complications (e.g., contrast reaction) and treats appropriately. Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations. Positions and transfers patients comfortably, immobilizes patients as necessary, and practices radiation safety procedures. If necessary, will take call to meet the needs of the department. On call requirements are defined separately by each hospital Examination compliance: CT biopsies and drainages, all CT protocols, IV skills, trauma and stroke protocols, advanced 3D reconstruction, independent workstation proficiency, daily scanner QC, OR proficiency, if applicable. Qualifications Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or GED Required Work Experience:
2 years Progressive responsibility in a diagnostic imaging department
Required Licenses:
Registered Technologist-Computed Tomography - ARRT Upon Hire Required or Certified in Computed Tomography -
NMTCB Upon Hire Required and Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required Courses and Training:
Accredited program in radiologic technology and training in computer tomography procedures
