JOB SUMMARY

The Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures using radiologic equipment in accordance with physician orders, established protocols, and regulatory standards. This position works collaboratively with radiologists, physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to provide accurate diagnostic images while maintaining patient safety, radiation protection, and quality of care. The Radiologic Technologist supports departmental operations through effective communication, accurate documentation, equipment maintenance, teamwork, and participation in quality and performance improvement initiatives.

DUTIES:

Reviews and verifies physician orders to ensure the correct imaging examination or procedure is performed and obtains corrected or clarified orders when necessary. Performs diagnostic radiographic procedures using appropriate imaging equipment and provides assistance and backup coverage for Surgery and Endoscopy as required. Operates PACS, CR, RIS, EHR, and related imaging systems to properly label, sequence, transfer, document, and release images and studies for radiologist interpretation. Practices established radiation safety standards, including appropriate shielding, pregnancy screening for patients of childbearing potential, and required documentation. Performs required computer functions, including ordering and recording examinations, documenting procedures, entering applicable charges, and reviewing patient scheduling information. Communicates effectively with patients and family members by explaining imaging procedures, addressing questions, and participating in appropriate handoff communication to support continuity of care. Collaborates with radiologists, physicians, nursing staff, and other team members to support timely imaging services, quality patient care, and positive clinical outcomes. Maintains clean, organized, and appropriately stocked work areas and equipment; completes required EHR documentation for cancelled, rescheduled, or unusual examinations; and participates in departmental quality, teamwork, and performance improvement activities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

ARRT registered or registry eligible Required Associate's degree from a Radiologic Technology Program Required. One year of Imaging Technologist experience Preferred.
