Summary of Job:

Performs PET CT scans, nuclear medicine procedures, including working with a gallium generator, and conducting quality control (QC) testing on imaging equipment. This position requires handling radioactive materials and assisting with patient transfers, ensuring both patient and staff safety.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Perform PET CT scans in accordance with physician orders and established protocols. 2. Conduct nuclear medicine procedures, including preparation, dosage, and administration of radiopharmaceuticals, including gallium. 3. Operate and maintain a gallium generator, ensuring proper handling and safety measures. 4. Perform routine and advanced quality control (QC) checks on PET CT machines and related equipment to ensure optimal operation and image quality. 5. Maintain accurate patient records, documentation, and imaging reports. 6. Provide compassionate patient care, including explaining procedures and assisting with patient transfers, ensuring safety and comfort throughout the process. 7. Collaborate with urologists, radiologists, and other healthcare providers to ensure timely and accurate diagnostic results. 8. Ensure compliance with all safety standards, regulations, and best practices in nuclear medicine, radioactive material handling, and PET CT imaging. 9. Assist in troubleshooting equipment issues and scheduling maintenance as necessary. 10. Stay up-to-date with advancements in PET CT technology, nuclear medicine practices, and safety protocols related to radiopharmaceuticals and generators. 11. Follows all policies and procedures and complies with Employee Handbook. 12. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with patients, employees, supervisors, and the public. 13. Responsible for knowing the work schedule, observing work hours, and maintaining a good attendance record. 14. Maintains confidentiality of all patients. 15. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

1. Registered PET CT Technologist (certified by ARRT (CT)/ARRT (NM) or NMTCB). 2. Experience with nuclear medicine procedures, including working with radioactive materials and gallium generators. 3. Proficiency in performing QC tests on imaging equipment. 4. Ability to assist in lifting and transferring patients, adhering to proper safety and ergonomic guidelines. 5. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols for handling radiopharmaceuticals and patient care. 6. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain procedures clearly to patients and work collaboratively with the medical team.
