TriCities Hospital, part of HCA Virginia Health System, is seeking a PRN CT Technologist to join our compassionate Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will perform high-quality CT imaging studies, ensure patient safety, and collaborate closely with radiologists, nurses, and other clinicians. Responsibilities include patient preparation, operating CT equipment, adhering to radiation safety protocols, and accurate documentation. Responsibilities Perform high-quality CT examinations according to physician orders and established protocols to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Verify patient identity, obtain relevant history, explain procedures, and ensure patient comfort, privacy, and emotional support throughout the exam. Position patients safely and accurately, adjust technical factors, and utilize appropriate protocols to optimize image quality while minimizing radiation exposure. Prepare and administer IV contrast media per hospital policy and scope of practice, monitoring patients for adverse reactions and responding appropriately. Collaborate closely with radiologists, emergency department clinicians, nurses, and other care team members to prioritize exams and communicate critical findings or concerns. Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record, RIS, and PACS, including exam details, contrast usage, and any relevant patient information. Adhere to all radiation safety, infection control, and hospital safety policies, including proper use of shielding, personal protective equipment, and equipment checks. Assist in emergent and trauma imaging, including stroke, chest pain, and multi-system trauma, supporting rapid diagnosis in a time-sensitive environment. Monitor CT equipment performance, report malfunctions, and assist with routine quality control tests to ensure consistent, reliable image quality. Support a culture of compassionate care, customer service, and teamwork consistent with Tri Cities Hospital and HCA Virginia Health System values. Participate in orientation of new staff or students as requested and engage in ongoing education to maintain competencies and certifications. Provide PRN coverage for a variety of shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, to support 24/7 imaging services.
