Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Activities Director to enhance the quality of life for our residents in an assisted living or nursing home setting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing engaging activities that promote social interaction, physical health, and emotional well-being among seniors. This role requires a strong understanding of aging issues and the ability to work effectively with individuals with various needs, including those with Alzheimer's, dementia, and disabilities. An Activities Director would typically be responsible for: Developing and maintaining a daily activity program based on residents' preferences, interests, abilities, and needs. Providing a variety of social, recreational, educational, physical, sensory, spiritual, and therapeutic activities. Creating and maintaining an activity calendarand making sure residents and families can access it. Providing activities that encourage socialization, independence, mobility, cognitive stimulation, and quality of life. Offering both group and one-on-one activities, particularly for residents who do not participate in groups. Adapting activities for residents with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, mobility limitations, vision/hearing impairment, or other functional limitations. Coordinating outings, entertainment, parties, holiday programs, exercise, music, arts and crafts, games, reminiscence, and community involvement. Communicating with families to learn about a resident's past interests, hobbies, occupation, culture, routines, and preferences. Working with nursing, caregivers, dietary, therapy, and management to make activities appropriate for each resident. Maintaining activity supplies, equipment, schedules, attendance records, calendars, and other required documentation. Recruiting, scheduling, training, and supervising activity staff and volunteers, when applicable. Ensuring activities are conducted safely and that residents are appropriately supervised. Documenting resident participation and identifying meaningful activities for residents who are difficult to engage.
