Visual Arts Coordinator | Tempe Arts + Culture Posted July 2nd, 2026 Are you a creative, organized visual arts artist who loves bringing hands-on art experiences to life? Apply to be Tempe Arts + Culture's Visual Arts Coordinator! The Visual Arts Coordinator is an important member of the Community Arts team within the Arts + Culture Division. This position is responsible for designing the visual art projects and supervising the event staff at Community Arts events such as Art in the Parks, Free Art Friday and Tempe Jam. Other visual art projects include coordinating contracted artists to create participatory art experiences for events. This position recruits, trains and supports visual art residencies and programs with Tempe's elementary, middle and high schools, such as Guest Artists Program, Art Tempe and Studio Artists Program. Duties include, but are not limited to the following Plans and implements specialized arts programming, artist engagement, and art project support. Manages contracts and partnerships with artists, vendors, and program partners. Provides expertise on division programs and services; assesses the needs and desires of the community as they relate to programs and services. Recruits, hires, trains, schedules, oversees, and evaluates the daily work and schedules of assigned staff and provides coaching, mentoring, and training for those positions. Liaises with other city departments, external organizations, and the public, responding to inquiries from outside organizations, community members, and artists. Responds to inquiries from the public, artists, and organizations regarding Arts and Culture programs, services and facilities as they relate to assigned work area; builds partnerships to expand access and participation. Performs administrative and program functions such as budgeting, purchasing, contract administration, reporting, and expense monitoring; attends team meetings and planning sessions to provide updates and reports. Assists in the preparation of program marketing materials, including press releases, flyers and digital communications, as they relate to the work area. May perform responsibilities of a similar nature and level as assigned.
