Job Description

Bethlehem Towers & Windham Village, Santa Rosa, Ca Description:
The Activities Coordinator will assess the resident abilities, limitations, and preferences as they relate to activities. He/she will also be responsible for the planning and implementation of activities for Bethlehem Towers & Windham Village residents—15 hours per week at Bethlehem Tower, 5 hours/week at Windham Village. The Activities Coordinator designs programs to encourage education, healthy living, and socialization, provide entertainment, relaxation, fulfillment, and improve daily living skills for our residents. Tasks also involve compliance documentation, other record keeping, and attention to the environment, and use of supplies and equipment.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
1. Plan and direct recreational activities for senior residents, such as: a. Exercise Classes b. Resident Parties c. Arts & Crafts 2. Recruit and train volunteers for activities and recreational programs. 3. Develop and coordinate workshops and meetings 4. Plan and direct special events 5. Coordinate transportation needs 6. Plan and coordinate special interest classes, such as: a. Walking Clubs b. Crafts c. Special events/ parties d. Cooking & nutrition 7. Cooperate with the Director of Social Services by performing any other duties when asked to do so.
Qualifications and skills:
Minimum 2-3 year's experience. Good verbal and written communication skills Evidence of effective problem resolution skills Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations Resourcefulness Ability and willingness to coordinate resources for residents Ability to make decisions and accept responsibility for the consequences Ability to be organized and efficient. Ability to meet deadlines Ability to train and motivate others Ability and willingness to act as a role model in conduct and appearance Ability to facilitate resident forums and meetings for large and small groups Ability to respond to critical incidents and the ability to act appropriately in an emergency situation Experience with Microsoft Office programs and must be able to provide instruction on basic computer skills in a computer lab setting Must be able to work independently and as a team player Must be a high school graduate or possess GED equivalency Valid California driver's license and/or reliable transportation Must be able to lift 30 pounds or more Criminal record clearance by being fingerprinted prior to reporting to work Must be willing to travel if necessary
