Overview Join our dedicated team as a Long Term Care Activities Assistant, where your passion for enriching the lives of seniors and individuals with disabilities will shine. In this vital role, you will design and implement engaging recreational and therapeutic activities tailored to residents' needs, fostering a vibrant and supportive community environment. Your expertise in assisted living, memory care, and dementia care will help promote well-being, independence, and joy among those you serve. Responsibilities Plan, organize, and facilitate diverse recreational activities that promote socialization, cognitive stimulation, and physical engagement for residents with varying needs. Collaborate with nursing staff, social workers, and family members to develop personalized activity plans that support residents' individual preferences and care goals. Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including mobility, dressing, and personal hygiene, ensuring comfort and dignity. Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure timely delivery of programs while accommodating residents' routines and special events. Provide specialized activities for residents with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or other memory impairments to enhance their quality of life through tailored approaches such as reminiscence therapy or sensory stimulation. Maintain detailed records of participation, progress, and resident feedback to continually improve program offerings. Foster a positive environment by encouraging social interaction and emotional well-being through engaging recreational therapy sessions. Qualifications Proven experience in long term care settings such as assisted living facilities or nursing homes. Strong background in event planning, recreational therapy, or senior care with an emphasis on dementia or Alzheimer's care. Knowledge of aging issues, memory care techniques, and working with individuals with disabilities. Excellent communication skills to connect effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members. Ability to assist residents with ADLs while maintaining respect for their independence and privacy. Experience managing activity schedules and coordinating multiple programs simultaneously.
