Overview We are seeking an energetic and compassionate Activities Director to lead engaging and meaningful recreational programs within a senior living community. Responsibilities Develop and execute diverse activity programs that cater to residents' interests, abilities, and care needs, including memory care and dementia-friendly activities. Coordinate resident events such as social gatherings, outings, recreational therapies, and special celebrations to foster community engagement. Build strong rapport with residents through personalized interaction, ensuring activities promote socialization, mental stimulation, and physical activity. Collaborate with care staff to assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed and ensure activities align with individual care plans. Manage scheduling for activities and events, ensuring smooth operation and timely communication with residents and team members. Maintain detailed records of participation, resident feedback, and activity outcomes to inform program improvements. Lead a team of activity assistants or volunteers, providing guidance, training, and motivation to deliver high-quality programming. Skills Proven experience in event planning within assisted living or long-term care settings; familiarity with senior care environments is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia-friendly programming, and memory care strategies. Excellent communication skills for engaging residents effectively and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for scheduling, documentation, and reporting purposes. Ability to develop innovative programs that promote socialization, cognitive health, and physical activity among seniors. Demonstrated leadership skills in managing staff or volunteers while fostering teamwork and resident rapport building. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs in geriatric populations; understanding of aging issues counseling is a plus.
