We are seeking an energetic and compassionate Activities Director to lead engaging and meaningful recreational programs within our senior living community. In this vital role, you will design, coordinate, and facilitate a diverse range of activities tailored to residents' interests, abilities, and care needs. Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive activity program that aligns with residents' preferences, cognitive levels, and physical abilities, including memory care and dementia-specific activities. Organize engaging events such as arts and crafts, music therapy, outings, games, and special celebrations to encourage participation and socialization. Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and ensure activities are accessible for individuals with disabilities or mobility challenges. Manage scheduling of activities to ensure consistent engagement while accommodating individual routines and care plans. Foster a warm, inclusive environment by counseling residents on aging issues and providing social work support when needed. Maintain detailed records of participation, resident feedback, and activity outcomes to continually improve program quality. Coordinate with families and community organizations to enhance activity offerings and promote community involvement. Requirements Proven experience in event planning within assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or long-term care settings. Strong knowledge of senior care practices, Alzheimer's disease, dementia care, memory care strategies, and recreational therapy techniques. Prior experience working with people with disabilities or in home & community care environments is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills to effectively engage residents, families, staff, and external partners. Ability to assist residents with ADLs such as dressing, grooming, mobility support, and other caregiving responsibilities as needed. Skilled in schedule management to balance multiple activities while maintaining flexibility for individual needs. Background in social work or counseling related to aging issues is a plus. Demonstrated ability to lead recreational programs that promote mental stimulation, physical activity, and emotional well-being.
