A Recreational Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving movement, sports, games, and other activities for brain stimulation. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

Per Diem (PRN) 9AM - 5PM (Minimum of 2 shifts per month: weekend and weekday needs)

Responsibilities The Recreational Therapist plans and implements appropriate recreation activities for patients in accordance with guidelines set by the organization, hospital, and the profession. Responsible for the provision of therapeutic recreation intervention for an assigned caseload. Ensures all patients are oriented to recreation therapy and provides hospital-wide leisure, social, and divergent programs. Serves as an educator to patients on community resources. Qualifications Minimum Requirements National certification from NCTRC as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) is required to start Baccalaureate Degree in Therapeutic Recreation required Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) or completion within the first 90 days of employment is required Preferred Qualifications Experience in Acute Rehab preferred
