A Recreational Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving movement, sports, games, and other activities for brain stimulation. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

Job Description

WeStaff Healthcare LLC is actively seeking a Direct Hire Activity/Recreation Aide to join our team at Chapin Home for the Aging , a skilled nursing facility dedicated to providing exceptional resident care.

Shift details will be discussed during the in-person interview at the facility Responsibilities of a
Recreation Aide:
Must fulfill the goals and objectives of the Therapeutic Recreation Department, in regard to resident rights, overall care and in the general working philosophy of the Therapeutic Recreation Department, as well as professionally reflect the mission statement of the facility. Assists in the development, coordination and execution of a wide range of activities for residents to improve functioning, enhance self esteem, promote creativity and self expression, while providing comfort, validation and reassurance. Functions as a member of the Interdisciplinary Health Care Team in all areas related to the Therapeutic Recreation Department. Qualifications of a
Recreation Aide:
Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Art Therapy, Music Therapy, Dance Therapy, or a related field preferred , or at least 2 years of experience working with a diverse population, including geriatrics. Must be able to play one or more musical instruments and incorporate music into recreational activities for residents. Excellent verbal and written communication, leadership, time management, and organizational skills. Ability to address the psychosocial needs of residents with compassion and professionalism. Ability to interact effectively with residents, families, visitors, and staff. Experience working with geriatric, infirmed, and sub-acute populations, including residents under 55 years of age. Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Knowledge of additional languages is a plus. Knowledge of diverse recreational programming and resident engagement techniques. We are an
